The Story
Aim: Separate the pieces. Can you rebuild the galaxy?!
Edwin Hubble (1889-1953)
American astronomer
Famous for Hubble’s Law which stated that the velocity of a galaxy increases with its distance from the Earth, implying that the Universe is expanding. Hubble is also known for providing evidence that formerly known “nebulae” were actually galaxies beyond the Milky Way. He played a crucial role in establishing the field of extragalactic astronomy. The orbiting Hubble Space Telescope is named in his honour.
